Artist: Chapee & Max I Million. Cuts: DJ Devastate
EP: Feel It
Counterweight Records - CW007
Chapee has been a praised and well-respected name in the Swedish
Hip Hop scene since his teens, as part of the legendary group Chapee & Chess and numerous high profile collaborations with the local cream of the crop. Now, twenty years later he just released his solo debut "Mode7ty”, produced by Tommy Black, who's sounds you may already be familiar with on “Institutionallized, off Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly LP. The title “Feel It” refers to Chapee’s low-key attitude, humbleness and inclination to follow his heart, disregarding current trends in the music industry.
In "Feel It", accompanied by the soulful sounds and rhythms of Max I Million, Chapee tells his story. His journey through life with Hip Hop as his companion. A celebration of a culture that resides in hearts all over the world, from South Bronx to South Korea. From California to Calcutta. And so on. This is Hip Hop.
DJ Devastate puts his tweaks on the remix with some hypnotizing jazz chords, thumping drums and signature style scratching.
The single is part of producer Max I Millions upcoming and anticipated The Maxtape Vol. 2, soon to be dropped on Counterweight Records on cassette, seemlessly mixed together by DJ Devastate, who also lays some razor sharp cuts on Feel It. Remember when mixtapes were actual cassette tapes? Let's bring it back..
Counterweight Records is a small Swedish independent label that aims to showcase fresh new music with the emphasis on timeless and soulful sounds.
Stay tuned!
